2/6/10 Rob, 24
Late Saturday afternoon, Super Bowl weekend, and people at the grocery store seem too busy to talk. I am there for groceries too, but I have a higher goal in mind - to have a conversation about eternity with someone - anyone - trusting that God has put them in my path for a reason. I am glad to have million dollar tracts to use as conversation starters, which typically lead to a good conversation within the first 3 or 4 people, but today I talked to about a dozen people. My shopping was done but my goal for fishing was not, so I finally uttered the prayer that I should have said from the start and within a few minutes I was in a good conversation. I talked with Rob who had stopped attending his family's Catholic church when he went away to college. He didn't seem to have thought much about spiritual things, but when I shared about God's law and the consequences for breaking it, Rob seemed to clearly understand his own guilt - in his words "That sucks" He didn't mean this disrespectfully, and was truly glad that condemnation for his sin doesn't have to be the end of the story. I had the privilege of explaining the good news of Jesus there in the soup aisle. Rob received it - on an intellectual level - and needs time to think further about what it all means, thanking me for explaining it all to him.
