At Target

It’s cold and snowy outside, and we northern Christians who normally share the Gospel in the streets and parks during the summer months might be tempted to put our outreach efforts on hold until the spring.  But if we are serious about sharing Jesus we can use our God-given creativity and find a way around these excuses, so I found a nice warm place to talk to people - my friendly neighborhood Target store!  Now I know this is the same store that won’t allow Salvation Army bellringers in front and that they have a "no solicitations" policy, which isn't really well defined in my opinion.  Does that mean we can't talk to other customers?  I would think it would be in their best interest to have a store environment where customers feel comfortable talking with one another.  In fact, I have had many great Gospel conversations with fellow customers in all types of stores.  I believe a picture is worth a thousand words, so I thought I’d try to record a conversation while shopping at Target as a way to encourage other believers to do the same, but simply talking to other customers and trying to video-record the conversation there in the store are two very different things.  In this video, I was talking to a young lady named Molly while her two friends – J.P. and Tim – operated the cameras, but about two minutes into the conversation a security guard told us recording wasn't allowed, so we had to stop the recording.  They couldn't stop us from talking off-camera though or from a subsequent and very long conversation with another customer named Anthony who had overheard us talking and had some questions of his own.  Yes, it's cold outside but very warm in all of our stores this Christmas season, and while we are out buying presents we can share the greatest present of all – the new life we have in Jesus!
