9/9/14 Charlotte, Oscar about 50, 25
I
enjoyed doing outreach today with Bob, another elder from our church. We talked with an older woman named Charlotte
and a younger man named Oscar. Bob was
amazed that both of them have had plenty of opportunities in their lives to
seek and find God - through family church involvement, faithful relatives, and
easy access to the Bible – yet neither has followed through to take advantage
of them. It was a bleak reminder that
without the Holy Spirit’s input into our lives, we are spiritually “dead” in our
sins and unable to bring ourselves to life. Afterward, I told Bob “There but for the grace
of God, go I.” We would be the same way if God hadn’t
intervened in us to bring us to faith.
The promise Paul gives in his letter to Philemon rang true today – “I
pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full
understanding of every good thing we have in Christ”.
