1/5/16 Ray about 40
Just
had a great time getting to know Julian, a brother from another location of my
church, as we reached out with the gospel.
In between talking to several people I heard his story of how he came to
trust Jesus, and how God orchestrated “random” people and events in his life to
draw him to Himself. One of the people
we reached out to was a man named Ray, who was distant at first but soon warmed
up to the Gospel. He eventually shared how
God has been working in his life, his eyes welling up at the memory of a pastor
who bought him several hundred dollars worth of groceries in a random act of
kindness. He had gone on to attend their
church about five times, but now hasn’t attended since October. I believe our conversation was a much needed
reminder to return to faith and to that church.
My hope is that Julian and I might be two of the people God orchestrated
in his life to draw Ray to Himself – that one day Ray will be strong in faith
and tell others of how two random guys came out of the blue to help him back to
the Lord and to church just when he had fallen away. We don’t need to know the results of our “random”
efforts – that’s what faith is all about!
