Ever wonder what it’s like to talk with someone who has had
almost no exposure to Christianity? Join
me in a conversation I recorded with Shiou, 24, graduate student from China who
really hadn’t heard much about the Bible.
Despite the cold weather out on the sidewalk where I had
initiated a conversation with him, Shiou had a refreshing curiosity about
Christianity and some He asked “How do you
get feedback from God?” and “Do people make mistakes when following God?” and “There are Christian hospitals in China
but why don’t they communicate to us about God?”
good questions, especially how a relationship with God might be lived out.
What a difference between talking with someone like Shiou who
just had an innocent curiosity about God and Christianity, and a typical
American skeptic, who has spent their whole life working out excuses why they
don’t believe.
In the end, I wanted to end our conversation before the cold
and our language differences ended it for us, but I hope and pray that Shiou
will keep asking his curious questions while he reads the booklets about the
Gospel that I gave him, and that he will take me up on my offer to continue our
conversation at a nearby coffeeshop.
