6/3/20 Mitch (see video HERE)
Okay, I confess. I think in a matter of years or even months we will all be looking back and laughing at how ridiculous we looked going about our daily lives with facemasks on. Already when I see people out jogging or driving their cars all alone wearing a facemask I can’t help but think how gullible and paranoid so many people are as a result of the sensationalism and fear mongering of the mass media and politicians. I know I’m not alone from the comments many people have made to me as I have reached out to initiate Gospel conversations, and they just tell me they are going along with the rules out of respect for others and for the government. And that is why I wear one, at least while shopping. It’s still possible to engage in positive conversations about the Gospel, as I did here with Mitch at a Home Depot garden department. I miss the positive expression on people’s faces while going about my shopping, and the pleasant social niceties such as a passing smile as we maneuver our shopping carts through the aisles. And Mitch was no exception, looking serious and kind of scary in his facemask, but very warm and friendly when I engaged him in conversation. I guess I could be stubborn and demand my rights, or refuse to shop at stores that require a facemask. But what’s the point? I follow Paul’s example that he wrote about in 1 Cor. 9: “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” If I let my facemask become an issue, I would miss out on opportunities to share the Gospel, and the chance to “share in its blessings.”
